Mary Blankenship (Sciences and Brookings Institute) was featured as a guest columnist in the Las Vegas Sun for her opinion editorial, "Lincoln Memorial Reminds Us Who We Are and Can Still Be."  She is a student with a double major in chemistry and math as well as a Brookings public policy minor. 
Le Chen (Math) and Jingyu Huang of the math department at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom are co-authors of a paper, " Comparison Principle for Stochastic Heat Equation on Rd, which has been accepted for publication in the Annals of Probability, one of the top journals in probability. 
Satish C. Bhatnagar (Mathematics) was invited to speak to students and faculty of the Government Rajindra College, Bathinda, in India. The college is his alma mater. The topic of the talk was the uniqueness in the education dystems of India and the United States.
Satish C. Bhatnagar (Math) addressed the graduate students and faculty of the mathematics department of the Central University of Punjab, Bathind, India, earlier this month. The topic was the "Necessary and Sufficient Conditions for Academic Excellence." The department was started in 2015, while the university established in 2009.

Satish C. Bhatnagar (Math) gave an invited talk to the Gujarat Ganit Parishad and Geometry Club of Ahmedabad on an overseas trip to India in May. He gave the talk, "Navigating the Straits of Geometry," at the Vikram Sarabhai Science Community Center, which is near the main campus of Gujarat University.

In January, Jichun Li, (Mathematics), was appointed as one of the managing editors for the journal Computers & Mathematics with Applications, one of the important international journals on computational mathematics. He has been serving on the editorial board since January 2012.
