The intricacies of bankruptcy law, the steps necessary in foreclosure mediation and the family court process are just some of the topics addressed in a series of free legal education classes UNLV Boyd School of Law students and local attorneys are offering this fall.
The UNLV Boyd School of Law, in partnership with the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and Nevada Legal Services, hold classes covering court procedures, documentation requirements and changes to laws. Individuals who attend the classes can apply for pro bono assistance.
The UNLV Boyd School of Law has sponsored legal classes the last 12 years and has helped more than 30,000 people in the community. Lawyers do not offer legal advice on specific cases.
Classes are held at various times throughout the fall semester at several locations around town, including the UNLV law school. The classes are free and open to the public with advance registration.
The classes cover legal areas such as:
- Bankruptcy
- Family law
- Foreclosure mediation
- Guardianship
- Paternity/custody
- Small claims
- Social Security disability benefits
- Tenant's rights
