Leading the presentations will be Dr. R. Keith Schwer, director of the center; Dr. Mary Riddel, associate director of the center; and Robert Potts, senior research associate at the center.

Discussions will focus on the current trends and critical issues facing the national economy, such as the impact of technology on the "new economy," concerns about rising oil prices, and the ability to maintain growth, control inflation, and keep interest rates low. The focus will then turn to the current trends and economic issues facing Southern Nevada, such as the current consolidation of gaming companies, diversification of the Las Vegas economy, and the ability of the area to sustain future growth by continuing to attract newcomers.

The conference will take place from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the UNLV International Gaming Institute located in the Stan Fulton Building. (The building is located at the southeast corner of Flamingo Road and Swenson Street.) The cost for an individual to register before Dec. 4 is $50. After Dec. 4 the registration fee is $55 per person. Registered participants will receive the publication Economic Outlook 2001.
