The UNLV Donna Beam Fine Art Gallery invites the community to Camelot, a special exhibition honoring former gallery director Jerry Schefcik and his 37 years of service to UNLV and to the art community. It is on view through Nov. 5, with a special Art Walk reception 5-9 p.m., Oct. 23
Schefcik is known for his collection of nearly 1,000 camel figurines. Inspired by this treasured collection, participating artists have created 26 works responding to the theme through representation, memory, symbolism, humor, and personal connection. One work will receive a $1,000 purchase prize and join the gallery’s permanent collection.
Join us to celebrate Jerry’s enduring contributions and the sense of community he has fostered over the years. Speakers include Sean Clark and Jerry Schefcik, followed by a 10-minute silent dance performance. The performance time is to be announced.
Participating artists are Suzanne Acosta, Erik Beehn, Autumn Belleque, Diane Bush, Aaron Cowan, Victoria Dale, Daryl Depry, Jeff Fullmer, Teresa Gaytan, Dan Hernandez, Alina Lindquist, Katherine Farley, Kayla Lockwood, Sasha Mosquera, Iandry Randriamandroso, Andrea Rangelova, Andrés Rave, Sean Russell, Emily Sarten, Jerry Schefcik, Marilyn Simpson, Nancy Sloan, Deanne Sole, Genesis Tovalin, Eric Wang, and Shahab Zargari.
The gallery is located in the Alta Ham Fine Arts Building at UNLV. Admission is free and open to the public.
