Misinformation about birth control continues to be shared across multiple popular social media platforms, researchers at UNLV have found. A new study published by a group of UNLV healthcare professionals details how this could be dangerous for women’s reproductive care.

For the first time the University of Nevada, Las Vegas is debuting a mariachi program exploring the traditional Mexican folk music that originated in the late 1800s. “The culture is just so rich. The music is one of the most beautiful kinds of music I’ve heard in my life,” Stephen Blanco, director of mariachi for UNLV’s School of Music, said.

Students and staff were all back on campus at UNLV as the fall semester began Monday. “This is what a university is about,” UNLV President Keith Whitfield told FOX5 as he manned a free lemonade stand inside a packed Beam Hall. “That vibrance. People are here, people are going to classes for the first time.”

Thousands of students are back on UNLV campus for the fall semester. The university tells us this is the largest fall enrollment ever. I spoke to the university's president about what this means for the future of UNLV and took a look back at where it all started.

UNLV provides alternative methods for those interested in becoming educators through its Paraprofessional Pathways Project and the Accelerated Alternative Route to Licensure. Both are fast-track methods to become licensed teachers, and allow students to work and earn an income while completing their studies.

Monday is the first day of class for students at UNLV. The university welcoming its largest enrollment of more than 32,000 students.

Class is back in session for UNLV and the College of Southern Nevada. Monday marks the first day of the fall semester for the two schools. UNLV says it will welcome more than 32,000 students, its largest-ever fall enrollment. That includes more than 6,500 first-year and transfer students.

UNLV wants to sell Sam Boyd Stadium, the former home to the university's football team, back to Clark County. President Keith Whitfield is scheduled to present the proposed sale to the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents on Sept. 5 and 6, according to a meeting agenda.
