A new analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data by researchers at UC San Francisco shows a startling percentage of young adults between the ages of 18 and 25 reported mental health symptoms through the month of June and into early July 2021. Based on a review of 28-hundred young adults, 48% acknowledged anxiety or depression during that time. And of that cohort, 36% reported their counseling needs were not met.

Mental health experts started to notice more children having mental health issues after the covid lockdowns began.

Since schools shut down in March, Clark County School District’s early-warning system, which monitors students’ mental health episodes, has sent more than 3,100 alerts to district officials, according to a recent story in The New York Times. That has prompted CCSD to hasten the return of in-person learning for some elementary school grades.
