Yonsu Kim (Healthcare Administration and Policy), Sheniz Moonie (Epidemiology and Biostatistics), Ji Won Yoo (Internal Medicine), and Jay Shen (Healthcare Administration and Policy) published an article, "Increasing trend in asthma hospitalization among cannabisdependent abusers and recreational cannabis legalizations (1998-2021)" in Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology

They identified a gradual increase in asthma hospitalization with cannabis-related disorders over the two decades. Moreover, this study showed that the upward trend accelerated after the implementation of RCL across the United States and is expected to continue in the future. By 2030, the ratio is projected to increase by 18.4% among those aged 0 to 19 years, 48.5% among those aged 20 to 44 years, and 49.5% among those aged 45 to 64 years, respectively (reference: 2021). Specifically, male, young, and middle-aged, African American, and Hispanic patients were identified as population subgroups at risk.
