In early November, UNLV Writing Center staff were invited to lead workshops in 14 sections of COLA 100E to support students on the final part of their semester-long Major Exploration Project. To help first-year students transfer their essay-writing skills to writing oral presentations, the workshops, which wrapped up this week, provided guidance on breaking down an assignment prompt, discussion of oral presentation genre conventions, and a hands-on brainstorming activity. Students created outlines that are the starting point for presentations they will give at the First-and Second-Year Seminar Symposium on Dec. 3 and 4.
