Ubalaeze Solomon Elechi (Business), a graduate student in UNLV's dual MBA/MHA program, is the lead author of a study recently published in the Cureus Journal of Medical Science examining the relationship between hospital participation in health information networks and patients' reports of discharge information.
The researchers analyzed data from 2,651 U.S. hospitals, including 780 critical access hospitals. They found that patient-reported discharge information varied across network participation patterns, but greater participation did not consistently correspond to better scores. The study also found no clear additional association with participation in the national Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA).
The findings highlight the importance of examining how hospitals integrate and use shared health information in patient care, rather than relying on network participation alone.
