Tyler D. Parry (Interdisciplinary, Gender, and Ethnic Studies) appeared on KTNV Channel 13 Action News' "Bridging the Divide" series to discuss desegregation and the murder of Emmett Till. He also was one of five panelists who discussed issues of protest, racism, violence, and education in "Every Voice: Race, Protest, and Power in Las Vegas." The transcript was published in the August issue of Desert Companion.
He also was interviewed recently by journalist David Crary of the Associated Press. Parry, assistant professor of African American and Africa Diaspora Studies, provided historical context for the modern civil rights movement and gave thoughts on how it might maintain its momentum.
