Honors: Stephen Bates

Stephen Bates (Journalism and Media Studies) has won the Goldsmith Book Prize for the best trade book about the media and democracy, awarded by the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard University. The $5,000 prize honors his book An Aristocracy of Critics: Luce, Hutchins, Niebuhr, and the Committee That Redefined Freedom of the Press, published by Yale University Press.
