Sharmistha Roy (Social and Behavioral Health), Ashis Kumar Biswas (Epidemiology and Biostatistics), and Manoj Sharma (Social and Behavioral Health; Internal Medicine) published an article titled, “Suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, and non-suicidal self-injury associated with opioid misuse among adolescents and young adults in the USA: A scoping review of emerging patterns and risks,” in the journal Psychoactives. The findings revealed that the growing public health crisis of opioid misuse was strongly associated with suicide risk.  Integrated, culturally appropriate educational and policy interventions are ardently needed to curb this destructive trend. Roy and Biswas are graduate students.
