Monica Arebalos (Medicine), who is an MD candidate, was asked an unexpected number of questions about her recently published paper on sex trafficking red flags, "Sex Trafficking Red Flags: Confirming Presentation Patterns and Childhood Adversity Risk Factors," during her match interviews with emergency room departments around the country. The ER doctors were excited to learn more about injury and risk patterns for youth victims and were obviously impressed with her answers, as she matched with her first choice for an ER residency. The article, which is in press with Nurse Leader was co-authored with Alexis Kennedy (Criminal Justice) and Rachell Ekroos (Nursing). Andrea Cimino of the Danger Assessment TTA Center at John Hopkins’ School of Nursing was the final co-author.
