Manoj Sharma (Public Health; Internal Medicine) coauthored an article titled, “Feasibility and Acceptability of Menstrual Cups for Addressing Period Poverty in Rural India: A Pilot Study in Spiti Valley” along with coauthors from the University of Utah in the journal Advances in Medicine, Psychology and Public Health (AMPPH). In Spiti Valley, located in the Himalayan region of Himachal Pradesh, India, a remote rural region, women have been moving from using repurposed cloth to single-use menstrual products, which are causing environmental threats. This ground-based study examined the utility of low-cost menstrual cups, that are environment friendly, as alternatives and found them useful and acceptable among women.
