Lung-Chang Chien (Epidemiology and Biostatistics) co-authored "Association of age at pancreatic cancer diagnosis with smoking and drinking: A hospital-based and meta-analysis study," which was published in Advances in Digestive Medicine. The study conducted two analyses: First, a systematic review used meta-analysis to examine the association between the risk of early-diagnosis pancreatic cancer and smoking and alcohol consumption across different countries; second, a survival analysis using the Kaplan-Meier method and the Cox PH model was used to evaluate survival probabilities and diagnosis risk. This study concluded that cigarette smoking and alcohol drinking are linked to younger age at pancreatic cancer diagnosis, with early smoking initiation increasing this risk further.
