Kavita Batra (Medicine), a senior collaborator with the GBD 2023 Asia Life Expectancy Collaborators, co-authored the study, "Mapping Drivers of Life Expectancy Change in Asia from 1990 to 2023," published in Nature. The study found that life expectancy increased across all 34 Asian countries and territories between 1990 and 2023, driven by reductions in cardiovascular disease, diarrheal diseases, and tuberculosis, while the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily reversed gains in several regions. The findings highlight the need for equitable, region-specific health policies to reduce premature mortality and narrow life expectancy disparities across Asia. Batra made significant contributions to the study's methodology and interpretation of the results.
