Kavita Batra (Medicine), along with the GBD 2021 AEMT collaborators, published "Global burden of adverse effects of medical treatment from 1990 to 2021: a Global Burden of Disease Study 2021" in the Korean Journal of Internal Medicine. Using GBD 2021 data from 204 countries, the study quantified the global burden of adverse effects of medical treatment, finding the highest disability and mortality in early neonates and older adults, with patterns influenced by socio-demographic factors, highlighting the need for policy adjustments to reduce overutilization in high-resource settings.
