Students Jason Victor, Tommy Komay, Paula Ramirez, and Andrew Hunter, along with Ph.D. graduate Harry Jang (all Radiochemistry) and chemistry faculty advisors Frederic Poineau and Ken Czerwinski, published research in Separation and Purification Technology titled "Separation of uranium from MxU1-xO2 (M = Ce, Pu) solid solutions using chemical vapor transport." The study demonstrates a simplified, chemical vapor transport method using aluminum trichloride to separate uranium from cerium and high-content plutonium solid solutions without relying on harsh oxidizing agents.
