Jarret Keene (English) will give a reading at the Clark Country Library Theater on Oct. 17 as a Las Vegas Writes series editor, in collaboration with Nevada Humanities. The reading will be from the just-published "Desert Superbloom: Las Vegas Writers on Scarcity and Abundance" (Huntington Press), a collection of original essays, stories, and graphic narratives, that explore Las Vegas — a city founded on flaunting so much, while cherishing so little. With unique perspectives on blossoming in the luxurious yet resource-starved Sin City, this 15th volume of the annual Las Vegas Writes series features 15 local writers and artists. This event will be free and open to the public. Contributing writers from the UNLV community include Safiyya Bintali (English), Mark Lenker (University Libraries), Heather Lang-Cassera (Online Education), and Shannon Salter (English).
