Graduate student Hoor Ul Ain and faculty mentor Kara Christensen Pacella (Psychology) recently published a new paper in the International Journal of Eating Disorders titled, "Eating Disorder Symptom Severity Decreases in Fasting Muslim Women in the United States During Ramadan: A Preliminary Longitudinal Study." This paper was based on Ain's master's thesis, which found that observing Ramadan may improve eating behaviors among women with greater baseline disordered eating problems.
