Grant: Guogen Shan

Guogen Shan (Epidemiology and Biostatistics) received a $1.5 million grant, "Alzheimer's Disease: New Trial Designs for Emerging Challenges," from the National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Aging. The research team also includes Dr. Jeff Cummings from the Brain Health Department as well as researchers from Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. The team aims to demonstrate how best to statistically manage the effects of demographic, genetic, and biomarker factors on cognitive ability of Alzheimer's disease patients by developing novel adaptive statistical models and effective analysis methods.

The office of sponsored programs provided support in the application process, and the National Supercomputing Institute will provide support for computing resources in this project.
