Grace Patrick, Lauren Reyes, and Nicole Short (all Psychology), along with colleagues from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Medicine and the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System, have published a manuscript titled “Psychometric evaluation of a momentary posttraumatic stress disorder checklist: An ecological momentary assessment study of sexual assault survivors” in the Journal of Traumatic Stress. This paper evaluated a brief, 10-item measure designed to track posttruamatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms in real time using 6 weeks of daily surveys from women sexual assault survivors. Researchers found that the measure reliably captured changes in PTSD symptoms both within individuals over time and across individuals. These findings support use of the Momentary PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (mPCL-5) as a brief, practical tool for evaluating short-term changes in PTSD symptoms.
