David R. Gruber (Communication Studies) published "A Forum on Neurorhetorics: Conscious of the Past, Mindful of the Future" as lead author in the journal Rhetoric Society Quarterly. The forum brings together multiple scholars to evaluate the past twelve years of research at the intersection of neuroscience and rhetorical studies, suggesting productive new avenues and future directions. As part of the forum, Dr. Gruber argues for "an ontological neurorhetoric" that reduces critique reliant on linguistic determinism and, rather, proceeds ecologically in tandem with the neurosciences to study and foreground the impact of environmental factors inherent in events of interest to those studying persuasion and communication more generally.
