David Damore, Caitlin Saladino, and William Brown (all The Lincy Institute and Brookings Mountain West) authored "Higher Education Pathways for Native American Students in Nevada" a Lincy Institute policy brief that examines the educational experiences of Native American students in public schools, colleges, and universities in Nevada utilizing data obtained through the Nevada P-20 to Workforce Research Data System (NPWR), Nevada Department of Education, and the Nevada System of Higher Education. Based upon the analysis of these data, the report recommends policy interventions to better support members of tribal communities as they train to enter the workforce in the Silver State. The brief also evaluates the significant measurement and data challenges that limit researchers’ ability to evaluate Native American educational pathways and the implications this has for policy decisions.
