David Damore, Caitlin Saladino, and William Brown (The Lincy Institute; Brookings Mountain West) author a newly published policy brief, "Nevada's Healthcare and Education Workforce Pipelines," that utilizes the Nevada P-20 to Workforce Research Data System (NPWR) and data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics to explore Nevada’s workforce shortages in K-12 education, healthcare, and mental and behavioral health at the state and metro levels, and provides policy recommendations to strategically address these deficits. The authors’ analysis finds that Nevada is not producing a large enough workforce to meet current and future needs and that substantially more women than men are earning credentials in these sectors.
