Darin Mains (Medicine), project director of the Statistical Transparency of Policing (STOP) Project, presented “2024 Statistical Transparency of Policing (STOP) Report” at the 2026 Nevada Traffic Safety Summit in Reno, Nevada on October 14th. Co-authored with Deborah Kuhls, Kavita Batra, Setareh Zarei, and Grace Gonzalez Caballero (all Medicine); Courtney Coughenour and Maxim Gakh (both Public Health); and William Sousa (Criminal Justice), the presentation highlighted findings from the project’s 2024 annual report, which examines Nevada traffic stop data through descriptive and advanced statistical analyses. The report aims to promote transparency in traffic enforcement, identify patterns in policing practices, and inform evidence-based policy and practice recommendations.
