New faculty member Cassie Hazelip (Law) was selected to present at the National Association for Rights Protection and Advocacy (NARPA) Annual Rights Conference in Huntsville, Alabama. The workshop, co-presented with Marisol Orihuela from Yale Law School, is titled "Thinking Creatively about Civil Commitment Defense." This workshop focuses on methods for engaging in zealous representation within the constraints of summary civil commitment adjudication. The hope is to promote the vigorous use of procedural and substantive protections available in and outside of involuntarily psychiatric commitment proceedings. Hazelip is developing a Disability Justice Clinic which will launch at Boyd School of Law in January 2027.
