Assistant professor Bonhak Koo's (Hospitality) article, “Bad caring: Reframing the role of empathy in the hospitality industry,” was recently published in the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management. In this article, Koo and his co-authors explore the consequences of two types of empathic abilities on hospitality employees’ psychological distress. The findings direct managers to take a more active role in recognizing and mediating the ways in which we ask employees to practice care.
