Shane W. Kraus (Psychology), associate professor and director of the Behavioral Addictions Lab at UNLV, recently published six peer-reviewed articles advancing research on behavioral addictions, mental health, and public health. The publications appeared in leading journals including Frontiers in Psychology, Frontiers in Public Health, the Journal of Behavioral Addictions, the British Journal of Psychiatry, the Journal of Public Health, and the International Journal of Mental Health and Addiction.

Several of the publications featured substantial contributions from UNLV doctoral students Bailey Way, Karen Valle Frias, and Frankie Nieblas, reflecting the lab's commitment to mentoring future clinical scientists. The studies examine topics including gambling disorder among U.S. veterans, sports wagering in military populations, generational shifts in gambling initiation, compulsive sexual behavior, and cross-national risk factors for alcohol misuse. Together, these publications advance scientific understanding of addiction and mental health while providing evidence to inform prevention, treatment, and public policy. The work underscores UNLV's growing leadership in behavioral addictions research and the university's investment in training the next generation of researchers.

• The fifth paper (Generational differences in the initiation of gambling: impacts from the legalization of sports gambling and the rise of online gambling) was published in the Journal of Public Health.
• The sixth paper (Investigating impulsivity as a moderator of the association between sexual abuse and alcohol misuse across individuals from different countries, gender identities, and sexual orientations) was published in the International Journal of Mental Health and Addiction.
