Austin Horng-En Wang (Political Science) and Darrell Carter (Political Science PhD) co-authored the article, "The Past is Present: Underestimating Fear of Contemporary Reprisals in the Legacy of Political Violence," in Political Science. In this article, Wang and Carter reveal the issue of nonresponse in the study of political repression. Since nonresponse follows the pattern of political violence in the case of Crimea Tatars, previous study dropping nonresponses may underestimate the impact of political violence.
