Alexandra Nur and Kaylee Faria (both Criminal Justice) along with their co-author Ian Silver (RTI International) recently published a manuscript titled "Seasonal Mental Health Symptoms Amongst Former Criminal Legal System-Involved Adolescents" in the Journal of Adolescence. The article examines whether the season in which respondents are interviewed impacts reported mental health symptoms, potentially skewing our understanding of how adolescent legal system contact and long-term mental health are related. Overall, the findings highlight that legal contact involvement before 18 increases mental health symptoms, but the magnitude of the effects varies by season.
