Two sculptures by assistant visiting professor Aaron Cowan (Art) were accepted to the juried exhibition Nice;03 at the Midwest Nice Art Gallery in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Nice;03 is the third annual national juried exhibition, a survey of contemporary artists exploring complex personal and social narratives. The exhibition assembles over thirty artists from across the nation working in various mediums and concepts, selected from over four hundred submissions. Cowan's sculpture of a 5-foot-7-inch flathead screwdriver titled "The Right Tool for the Job" received an award from the jurors.
The exhibition is on view in-person and online from July 14 - September 14, 2025, with a closing reception on Sept. 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Cowan's nuanced and humorous work explores themes of masculinity and the social pressures to perform as a man in a specific way.
