Fall Orientation

Welcome to UNLV! Every semester the Graduate College hosts the New Graduate Student Orientation for our incoming Grad Rebels. Whether you are new to campus or an alumnus you will learn important information unique to graduate studies at UNLV. You will also have a wonderful opportunity to meet other graduate students and get even more insider tips on how to survive and thrive in your graduate studies!

Fall 2018 Orientation Program

All new graduate students are required to attend Orientation on Friday, August 24, 2018. Please see below for the tentative schedule. In addition, check out Welcome Week's exciting events!

UNLV Creates

Time: 9 a.m.–10:30 a.m. (doors open at 8 a.m.)
Location: Thomas and Mack Center
Scholarship Giveaway: The Graduate College will give away two $500 access scholarships to newly admitted students who RSVP and attend Creates. Two names will be drawn from the list of RSVPs. Recipients must be present to win, must enroll in six graduate credits in both the Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 semesters, and must have completed a FAFSA.

  • Lied Library Tour | Please reserve your spot

    11 a.m. & 11:30 a.m.

  • Meet your GPSA Executive Board, learn about how to get involved | Please reserve your spot, pizza will be served.

    10:30 a.m.–11:15 a.m. (Lied Library, Room 2141)

  • New Graduate Assistant Orientation (mandatory for all new Graduate Assistants and recommended for returning Graduate Assistants)

    11:30 a.m-1:00 p.m. (SU Ballroom)

  • Lunch On Your Own

    1:00 p.m-2:00 p.m.

  • Get Your Rebelcard

    All Day

    You will need to get your Rebelcard student ID to access important resources including the UNLV Library's online resources. On Friday, August 24, 2018, the Rebelcard office will be open from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. If you would like to get your Rebelcard on another day, please check their website for hours of operation before heading to campus, as Rebelcard office hours vary.

Student Information Session

Time: 2 p.m.-4 p.m. (check-in begins at 1:30 p.m.)
Location: Student Union Ballroom

The Student Information Session will provide new students with important information to ease the transition into graduate study at UNLV. Graduate College staff will discuss policies and procedures and address issues and concerns that new graduate students may face.

Welcome Mixer/Social at Sunset Park

Time: 5 p.m.–7 p.m.
Location: Aspen Picnic Area, Sunset Park

To welcome new students and welcome back other members of the graduate community, we are holding the Welcome Mixer/Social at Sunset Park. The event is a great opportunity for new and current graduate and professional students, UNLV graduate coordinators, UNLV Graduate College team members, and Graduate & Professional Student Association (GPSA) representatives to celebrate the start of a new academic year together. Families are welcome. Food and refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP by Friday, August 17.
