Facilities & Equipment

The department of film facilities enhance our ability to teach, train, and produce.

Equipment Room

Our equipment room is complete with industry-professional equipment, film stock, and supplies. The equipment packages vary by level of study, and are overseen by our film and new media specialist, Jason Edmiston.

The equipment room is closed for summer break. If you have questions about equipment, contact Jason Edmiston at jason.edmiston@unlv.edu.

Our soundstage is available to all undergraduate students working on approved film and video projects. It also is used as a teaching resource for our cinematography and production courses.

Post Production

Approximately 50 workstations are loaded with Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, Soundtrack Pro, and Adobe Creative Suite. There is also an ADR and Foley room available for student use.

UNLV Short Film Archive

The UNLV Short Film Archive is a comprehensive collection of short films from all over the world spanning from the beginning of filmmaking to the present time, including shorts by Buster Keaton. The archive is overseen by associate professor of film David Schmoeller.

Howard Hughes Film Collection

The UNLV film department houses an extensive collection of memorabilia and films donated by the Hughes estate and the Howard Hughes Corporation.
