COVID-19 Information
Updated 8/25/2020
Per UNLV's instructions, the university is still falling under the Interim Policy on Campus Events. This requires that events not be held in-person. Since there are no dates indicated on the policy, we are recommending any events scheduled through 9/23/2020 plan on meeting the Interim criteria mentioned in the policy. Events that wish to have an in-person component should follow the policy guidelines listed at least three weeks in advance for UNLV events and at least five weeks in advance for non-UNLV events. Our recommendation is for events during that period either go fully online, cancel, or go through the process of requesting an exception.
When new information becomes available, we will provide it here.
When we are allowed to more fully open for campus events, we have prepared our guidelines for a limited reopening. This describes guidelines and practices for our department for small UNLV-sponsored in-person meetings which are allowed to occur. All event sponsors and participants will be required to abide by mandatory mask use and social distancing while in the Student Union.
However, we are booking for fall 2020, spring 2021 and summer 2021 spaces at this time. Our events will be dictated by regulations at the time, including possibly limiting group size and location selections to honor social distancing. You may reach our office at eventservices@unlv.edu or eventsales@unlv.edu. You may also submit your reservation request through our online portal. Once events are able to resume, our staff will exercise caution and diligence to manage in-person meetings and events in as safe a manner as possible. Your safety is our #1 goal.
Presentation: Managing Events During COVID-19
On July 23, 2020, SUES presented a program on practices, questions, and ideas on how to manage events during the COVID-19 era. The video can be found on YouTube. SUES stands to support UNLV with consulting, training, and other resources to reduce the risk of transmission of the COVID-19 virus through in-person events and activities. Organizations and departments are encouraged to reach out to us if you have any questions.
Outside Food Guidelines Under COVID-19
In order for SUES to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19, the following guidelines for food being brought or delivered to campus for events is immediately in effect. Please contact our office if you have any questions.
SUES is providing a new pricing structure for SUES-managed events which will affect UNLV and non-UNLV reservations. It will also provide better equity for department events than in the past. More information about our pricing tiers.
Student Union & Event Services and the Office of the Registrar are happy to provide better support for department events in classroom spaces on campus. For department event requests in classroom spaces, use "Book Your Event" above. Learn more about the changes.
