The Las Vegas community is coming together for one of the region's largest back-to-school initiatives as Pack the Mack prepares to provide thousands of local students with the supplies and support they need for a successful school year.
Hosted by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Office of Community Engagement in partnership with community organizations throughout Southern Nevada, Pack the Mack is more than a backpack giveaway—it's a community-wide effort to ensure every child begins the school year prepared, confident, and ready to learn. Organizers are working toward distributing up to 15,000 backpacks filled with school supplies, while also providing families with valuable health and community services.
The free event will feature:
- Backpacks filled with school supplies
- Live music and family-friendly entertainment
- Free haircuts
- Dental screenings
- Sports physicals
- Community resources and support services
Organizers emphasize that this initiative is about more than any one neighborhood, school, or organization.
"This isn't about one neighborhood, one school, or one organization—this is about all of Las Vegas standing together and showing what our community is capable of when we work as one."
Families wishing to receive a backpack and school supplies must register in advance.
