Child Care Access Means Parents In School (CCAMPIS) is a federally funded Department of Education grant. The UNLV CCAMPIS Program will provide childcare stipends and wrap-around services for up to 50 selected students.
Award amounts will cover 90% of childcare costs and will be paid directly to the child care center. Applicants are responsible for 10% of childcare tuition and for registration fees. Factors that will be considered when selecting UNLV CCAMPIS award recipients include level of financial need, enrollment and GPA, and availability of childcare spots for the appropriate age group of the child(ren).
To Qualify for the UNLV CCAMPIS Program
- Must be enrolled at UNLV in a degree seeking program as a full or part-time student - this includes Undergraduate, Graduate, and Professional levels; 80% of awards will go to undergraduate students.
- Must remain in good standing for each semester receiving the CCAMPIS award.
- Must have an up to date Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with UNLV Financial Aid and have demonstrated financial need based on the Expected Family Contribution.
- Must have a child or children between the ages of 6 weeks to 12 years old (verified through birth certificate or legal documentation).
- Children ages 6 weeks to 5 years must enroll in the UNLV/CSUN Preschool or, if spots are not available, the University United Methodist Child Development Center. Children ages 6 to 12 years must enroll in the Jr Rebels Camp. Children must maintain an 80% attendance rate.
- UNLV/CSUN Preschool has childcare available for 2, 3, or 5 days a week from 7:30am - 5:30pm and has half day plans.
- University United Methodist Child Development Center has childcare available for 2, 3, 4, or 5 days a week from 6:00am to 6:00pm.
- Jr Rebels Camp is available on a weekly basis in the summer, if register for the week children must attend all days camp is offered or provide a doctors note.
- Must agree to participate in CCAMPIS activities including:
- Student/Parent Learning Network - monthly 60 minute meetings either virtual or in-person about a specific topic supporting your academic success while parenting. Childcare will be offered when meetings are in-person.
- Community of Practice - a web-based networking space to share personal, academic, and family celebrations, seek out support, and help each other problem solve.
- Study Week Break - during the fall and spring semester Study Week (the week preceding final exams), CCAMPIS families will be provided an evening of childcare and a study room to complete final papers, projects, or study for upcoming exams.
- Family Volunteers - CCAMPIS student/parents of children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years must volunteer at the childcare center (UNLV/CSUN Preschool or the United Methodist Childcare Center) for a minimum of 3 hours per a semester.
- Assessments - participating student/parents will participate in focus groups and surveys at least twice a year to assess the CCAMPIS Program and determine additional services needed. Children enrolled in child care centers will also participate in early childhood development assessments.
