In 29 CFR 1910.134, OSHA requires that UNLV develop and implement a written respiratory protection program to protect the health of employees where respirator use is necessary to accomplish their job responsibilities.

Worksite specific procedures are required and contain the following elements to ensure workers are cleared, trained, and prepared to use respirators.

  • Medical evaluations
  • Annual training (either online or in-classroom)
  • Annual fit testing

Fit Testing

Respirator fit testing is conducted at the Risk Management & Safety (RMS) offices in the Campus Services Building, Room 201. UNLV employees and students can schedule a fit test through the Chimera Safety Training platform. After logging into Chimera and completing the online Respiratory Protection training, you will be prompted to select an available fit testing date and time.
