Attend Orientation
Get ready for UNLV Family Orientation!
UNLV Family Orientation
During this event, you'll enjoy a welcome program, hear from inspiring speakers, learn about the resources available to support your student, and understand the next steps to prepare your student for a successful first semester at UNLV! UNLV strongly encourages that you let your student register for their New Student Orientation session before registering for your family and guest orientation.
We encourage you to attend the program during your student's scheduled in-person orientation session. Family members and guests will separate from their students at the conclusion of the University Welcome to attend their own specialized orientation session. They will reunite with their students at the Resource Fair in the Student Union Ballroom at the conclusion of the program.

This program is designed to support the transition of new students to university life by helping parents, guardians, and other supporters understand what their students will experience socially, emotionally, and academically. By providing clear information about key campus resources such as advising, financial aid, housing, health services, and campus safety, Family Orientation empowers families to ease anxieties and play a positive role in their student’s academic and personal success. The program also clarifies the important role families play in encouraging student independence while staying supportive and respecting boundaries, including those outlined by FERPA. In addition to sharing valuable information, Family Orientation helps build a sense of community by connecting families with university staff and fellow UNLV families, creating a strong support network that continues beyond orientation. Running alongside New Student Orientation, the program includes presentations, Q and A sessions, campus tours, and opportunities to meet faculty and staff, all designed to help your student thrive at UNLV. We are proud to have you as part of the Rebel family.
