Founded during 1922, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Honor Society of Nursing recognizes baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, and nurse leaders who exhibit exceptional achievements.

UNLV Nursing Faculty founded the Zeta Kappa Chapter during 1981 and became an at-large chapter during 2012 with the addition of Nevada State College School of Nursing.

STTI offers membership by invitation only, and students must satisfy the membership criteria to be considered. The chapter has an annual induction ceremony each spring. STTI has more than 135,000 active members residing in 85 countries.
