Nurse Camp fosters early interest in nursing through engaging and interactive activities for high school students.

About the Camp

In 2019, the UNLV School of Nursing launched Nurse Camp to encourage high school students to pursue a career in nursing. Students are exposed to academic, clinical, and community activities to develop realistic expectations about nursing school and working as a registered nurse.

Nurse Camp is an immersive weeklong experience, where students:

  • Learn essential nursing skills including caring for a newborn, wound care, taking vital signs, etc.
  • Receive CPR and Stop the Bleed training
  • Tour UMC hospital
  • Engage with new-grad and veteran nurses
  • Receive information on admission to the UNLV School of Nursing BSN program
  • Explore different specialities in nursing
