Traveling Internationally? Stay Secure with UNLV’s Loaner Laptop Program

The UNLV Division of Research, in partnership with the Office of Information Technology, has launched the International Travel Loaner Laptops Program.

Travel is often part of the job for faculty, researchers, and collaborators. However, taking your personal or work laptop abroad significantly increases the risk of data and identity theft. The Laptop Loaner Program helps mitigate these risks by providing secure devices that still give users access to the applications and information they need while traveling.

The university has 12 laptops available for loan to academic and administrative faculty traveling internationally for purposes related to their employment or academic responsibilities at UNLV.

Each laptop comes preloaded with essential tools to support secure and productive work:

Productivity and Collaboration

  • Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides)

  • Meeting tools: Google Meet and Zoom

Browsing and Documents

  • Web browser: Google Chrome

  • PDF viewer: Adobe Acrobat Reader

Security and Privacy

  • Ad blocker: Adblock Plus

  • VPN: FortiClient VPN

These devices are configured to minimize cybersecurity risks while still providing access to essential applications and services.

To submit a loaner laptop request please email Chelsea Holmes at chelsea.holmes@unlv.edu.
