About the Program

Travel is a key part of the work many UNLV faculty and staff do around the world. To help protect your data and identity while you’re abroad, the UNLV Division of Research and the Office of Information Technology offer a Laptop Loaner Program for International Travel.

This program provides secure, pre-configured laptops so you can stay productive while reducing cybersecurity risks associated with using your everyday device overseas.

Who Can Use This Program?

The Laptop Loaner Program is available to:

  • Academic faculty
  • Administrative faculty

Traveling to a foreign country for purposes related to their employment or academic fulfillment with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

There are currently 12 laptops available in the pool.

What’s Included on the Loaner Laptops?

Each laptop comes pre-loaded with the tools you need to work securely while traveling:

Productivity and Collaboration
  • Google Workspace: Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides
  • Meeting tools: Google Meet and Zoom
Browsing and Documents
  • Web browser: Google Chrome
  • PDF viewer: Adobe Acrobat PDF Viewer
Security and Privacy
  • Ad Blocker: Ad Blocker Plus
  • VPN: FortiClient VPN

These devices are configured to minimize cybersecurity risks while still giving you access to essential applications and services.

How to Request a Loaner Laptop

To request a loaner laptop for your upcoming international trip:

  1. Confirm your travel is for UNLV-related employment or academic purposes.
  2. Email Chelsea Holmes at chelsea.holmes@unlv.edu and include:
    • Your name and department
    • Destination country (or countries)
    • Travel dates
    • Brief description of the purpose of your travel

Loaners are limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
