For April 2026, the UNLV offices of Information Technology and of Accessibility Resources recognize Leeann Fields, outgoing Executive Director, Office of Educational Compliance (OEC), as our Rebel Accessibility Hero.

As Leeann approaches the date of her UNLV retirement this summer, we reflect on her embodying the various traits of a true digital accessibility champion. Leeann has been a passionate and empathetic advocate for all things digital accessibility and inclusivity, not just because of her UNLV role. In supervising the staff in the UNLV Office of Accessibility Resources until last fall, she demonstrated calm and measured support for the team's mandates and initiatives, often expanding the messaging into additional administrative areas. She had a pragmatic approach to this, focusing on progress over perfection while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Leeann talked the talk and walked the walk, completing the various trainings available, to ensure she had the clearest idea about the message, about the rationale and about the skills to be applied as a knowledgeable creator of accessibility content.
