Notice of Construction: SCS Geothermal Feasibility Study July 13-Aug. 14

UNLV will conduct a geothermal feasibility study near the System Computing Services (SCS) building from July 13 - Aug. 14. The study will include drilling boreholes, installing a geothermal loop (underground pipes and pump), and testing the viability of the geothermal system powering the SCS building.

Work will take place between 7 a.m. - 4 p.m., daily. During this time, please be aware of the following impacts:

  • Pedestrian pathways on the west side of SCS will be closed.
  • Approximately eight parking spaces in Lot I will be blocked off.
    • The work area will be fenced off.
  • Elevated noise and dust are expected in the area while drilling takes place.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we explore opportunities to enhance renewable energy on campus. Please visit the Facility and Infrastructure Improvement Projects webpage for more information about campus construction projects.
