In Memoriam - Katrina Harris

The College of Education faculty and staff extend our condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Katrina Harris, professor emerita in the department of Counselor Education, School Psychology and Human Services.

Harris taught while serving as a practicum and internship coordinator and mental health counselor. Throughout retirement she continued to be involved across our programs as a part-time instructor. In 2021 her department established the Harris Antiracist Committee (HARC) to improve the department environment and foster belonging for students, faculty, and staff.

Harris was a two-time graduate of the College of Education earning her M.Ed. in School Counseling and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology. She helped recharter the college’s alumni chapter and served as its president over the last two years. She also served as an alumni mentor and college representative on the UNLV Alumni Association Board of Directors.
