January 2026 Rebel Accessibility Hero

The UNLV offices of educational compliance and accessibility resources are proud to recognize Chantel McDonald, the director of strategic projects and training development in UNLV Business Affairs, as our Rebel Accessibility Hero for January 2026.

As we reflect on a busy year around digital accessibility at UNLV, we are grateful for colleagues who visibly maintain their commitment to this idea that accessibility is for everyone. McDonald has been part of our UNLV endeavors since 2021, when she was at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine and then in 2022 when she completed our more-robust Foundations of Accessibility training after joining the Business Affairs team. Before coming to UNLV, McDonald worked with the Nevada Assistive Technology Resource Center (NATRC) at UNR. The NATRC is a statewide project which offers services and support to those interested in exploring assistive technology.

From Jerra Strong, Web Accessibility Specialist in UNLV Web and Digital Strategy:

"Chantel is so giving of her time and energy. After a 6-month accessibility training program, Chantel went on to mentor her colleagues about accessibility as a Business Affairs Accessibility Ambassador Mentor. She supports her unit with her knowledge of Google Docs and word processing. Chantel has built her expertise by curiosity, one question at a time.  If her colleagues are struggling with accessibility, she is motivated to step in and help. If she can't answer a question, she leverages the university resources to find the answer. It is her spirit of helpfulness, curiosity, and willingness to learn that I feel makes her a Rebel Accessibility Hero!"

Please join us in celebrating Chantel McDonald as our January 2026 Rebel Accessibility Hero!
