Introducing UNLV’s Research Integrity and Compliance Officer

The Division of Research is pleased to announce that Julie Bertoia has been appointed UNLV’s new Research Integrity and Compliance Officer (RICO), effective April 8.

Bertoia brings nearly 26 years of experience at UNLV, most recently serving as laboratory safety manager since 2018. In her new role, she will lead the university’s efforts to support the responsible conduct of research, oversee research compliance, and serve as a resource for faculty, staff, and students navigating research policies and requirements.

She will also offer Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training and help strengthen a campus-wide culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability in research. During this transition, Bertoia will continue to oversee safety in UNLV’s research facilities until a new Laboratory Safety Manager is hired.
