Institutional Engagement & Experience Initiative Aims to Enhance Faculty and Staff Experience at UNLV

The Institutional Engagement & Experience initiative in the President’s office is a campuswide effort to cultivate a collaborative, proactive, and mission-aligned university culture for faculty and staff. Its goal is to deepen connections, belonging, and cross‑divisional collaboration so individuals feel supported and engaged in their work at UNLV. Through the Institutional Engagement & Experience Council, initiatives will be developed to foster collaboration, enhance the overall employee experience, and create a positive and affirming campus culture.

Core focus areas of the unit

  • Professional Development: The unit will collaborate with campus departments to provide professional development opportunities that support well-being, collaboration, and leadership development. Specific opportunities will be highlighted as they emerge throughout the academic year.
  • President’s Engagement Fund: The unit will oversee fund distribution to academic and administrative units to support teamwork and collaboration activities that foster connection within the department and UNLV as a whole.
  • Institutional Engagement & Experience Council: The unit will oversee the Institutional Engagement & Experience Council. This council will provide guidance and direction to university leadership through the cross-unit collaboration and communication.
  • Affinity Group Support: The unit will provide guidance and administrative support to university faculty and staff affinity groups.

The unit is overseen by Kyle Ethelbah, associate vice president for Institutional Engagement & Experience, and Yaa Obeng, program manager for Institutional Engagement and Experience.
