Heather Torgersen Appointed Interim Senior Advisor for Philanthropy and Donor Relations

Heather Torgersen has accepted an appointment as interim senior advisor for philanthropy and donor relations in UNLV Office of the President, effective April 1.

Torgersen has served for 10 years in the College of Liberal Arts, most recently as senior executive director of external affairs and the college’s chief fundraising officer. She has consistently ranked as the top fundraiser on campus, raising $5 million annually for scholarships, programs, faculty research, summer stipends, and more. Her work expanded to include securing key campus and community partnerships, monitoring critical bills in the Nevada Legislature, working with faculty and the grants team to garner external funding, and shepherding resources to transformative programs, including the Neon Pacific Initiative and the proposed Psy.D. program. Some of her most impactful work can be seen in the mental and behavioral health space as evidenced by the growth of UNLV PRACTICE into an official institute.
